Currumbin Beach

Accessing the Coastal Paradise

Currumbin Beach offers visitors a wide array of activities, including a visit to the sole surf museum in the state, a refreshing swim in the picturesque Currumbin Creek Estuary, or an immersive experience with nature at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This charming coastal gem was recognized as Queensland’s cleanest beach in 2013, ensuring that there is never a lack of engaging activities. The Currumbin Surf Lifesaving Club merits a visit to indulge in exceptional beachfront dining adjacent to Elephant Rock. Ascending the stairs to the observation platform atop Elephant Rock offers breathtaking vistas of Surfers Paradise to the north and Coolangatta to the south. Many modern cafes and dining establishments also provide stunning beachfront views along the Pacific Parade. Beach Utilization

Each beach along our coastline possesses unique characteristics and accommodates a variety of activities such as swimming, surfing, and dog walking. We have been actively engaged in understanding the preferences of our community and visitors and identifying our most frequented beaches. Currumbin Beach attracts approximately 50,000 visitors annually and is generally quieter than the neighbouring Currumbin Alley. The beach is frequented predominantly by residents from surrounding medium- to high-density suburbs. Over 60% of individuals use this beach for exercise, recreation, and relaxation, while many patrons surf at nearby Currumbin Alley.

Surfing

Currumbin Beach is designated part of the World Surfing Reserve and is highly favored among surfers. This beach break tends to produce more giant waves from a broader directional range compared to the adjacent southern beach breaks, owing to the diminished shielding effects of Greenmount and Snapper Rocks.

Swimming

Swimming between the red and yellow flags is imperative, as they indicate that the beach is under patrol. Currumbin Beach is monitored by a lifeguard tower located at Pacific Parade and the Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club (741 Pacific Parade). The facility is patrolled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily throughout the year.
